Attention all BISD Middle School Pre-AP ELAR students:

Any student enrolled in Pre-AP Reading and English is required to read one book from the list below before the start of school on August 22, 2016. The books are available at local libraries, bookstores, or can be purchased online.

Students will read one of the following:

    Incoming 6th graders:

The Dark Side of Nowhere by Neal Shusterman

    Wonder by R. J. Palacio

The Lions of Little Rock by Kristin Levine

    •

    Incoming 7th graders:

Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick

    Cinder by Marissa Meyer

There Will Be Bears by Ryan Gebhart

    •

    Incoming 8th graders:

    When by Victoria Laurie

    Anthem by Ayn Rand

Ink & Ashes by Valynne E. Maetani

We strongly suggest that students annotate or take notes as they read. However, there is no written assignment with the novels during the summer; students are only asked to read the novel of their choice from the list. The novel should be read in its entirety before school starts so that students will be prepared to participate in creative opportunities with the content of the book once school begins.

Any questions can be directed to Ginger Canaan at ginger.canaan@birdvilleschools.net

    Have a great summer!
