Our school received a five year federal grant funded by Texas Education Agency (TEA). ASPIRE (After School program Inspiring and Reinforcing Education) is a Texas 21st Century Community Learning Center. This grant became available as a result of the federal “No Child Left behind Act of 2001.”
This grant provides educational experiences for our students with before and after school programs and parent support. These programs help our students meet state and local student performance standards by improving academics, attendance, behavior, which increase promotion, and graduation rates. Our services and program includes both enrichment and academic activities for your children. Your child is encouraged to participate in this program. Activities will include tutoring sessions for students who are in need of some extra academic help. Some examples of activities are the following: interactive math, Science, Social studies, and Reading clubs as well as enrichment activities in sports, crafts, fitness, and nutrition. At this time, some of the proposed classes include: Kids College, Reading Round-Up, Outdoor Education, Story Telling with Puppets and much more! Parent classes, workshops, and resource materials are also made possible through this program. Establishing and strengthening formal and informal partnerships is believed to be a key in the long term success of our community learning center.
The Morning Program offers gym activities and Kids College Tutoring program Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM.
The After-School Program provides a 15 week session which will begin September. 4, 2012- December 19, 2012. All classes are held Tuesday through Thursday only. We will provide academic help from 3:30-4:30 and enrichment class from 4:30-5:30. This is not a child care service.
