Well another year has passed at AWB and we loved celebrating all the successes of the students together!  I would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Contreras for putting together the family movie night for our parents and students- I know everyone had a blast!

I would also like to thank Mrs. Marcano and Mrs. Climer for putting together such great decorations for our end of the year class recognition ceremony!  Every year it looks better and better.  It makes it such a great atmosphere for students and their families to come and acknowledge the growth that has taken place this year!

  • Stay Smart This Summer

Posted by Michael Wamsley at 5/23/2012 4:05:00 AM
Our "Stay Smart" program was a huge success for all our parents!!!  None of this could have happened without the incredible dedication of our academic specialists Ms. Martin, Mrs. Limon, Mrs. Allan, and Mrs. Wamsley!  From months of fund raising to help purchase all the materials that were sent home to the hours of planing and coordinating lessons, food (thanks to Cici's and Dominoe's Pizza), and child care.  We were so full that we had to split into the gym and cafetorium... and it still was standing room only.  Talk about community coming together for kids!

Field day was a huge success!!!  This is the first year we had a challenge course including water obstacles!!!!  It made for a great time having fun, competing, and staying cool!   Thank you to all staff, parents and students who made this possible!

Our relay race was another jam packed event, always bringing classes together for a common purpose.  It is so great to see everyone as one team with one goal encouraging their competitors to do their best.  "Your victory is our victory!"

    Choir performing for our volunteers
We are very fortunate to have such great community support.  BISD believes "Student success requires community support and engagement" and through our parents and partner's like Northwood Church we are making a difference.  This year over 80 students have one-on-one assistance from a caring adult to help them achieve their potential.  Our choir gave a special thank you to show our appreciation for all your hours of support!

Our all volunteer choir performed at the annual BISD choir concert again this year.  I am so proud of the dedication to hard work and commitment to excellence all our students demonstrated!  Way to represent our campus.  I would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Jerger our choir teacher for taking on the role with style and grace!

     Students washing cars
Our 2nd graders are combining projects, service, and academics to help fund their field trip! Our students put a great deal of effort into preparing for this event.  They created publicity posters that promoted their event, went class to class signing up teachers, developed a budget, arranged for purchase of items, and arranged all the details of the day to run smoothly.  Our teachers had a blast and were absolutely exhausted at the end of the day, but ti was worth it as the students had an amazing learning opportunity!
