Eagles of the Day Every child receives an “Eagle of the Day” form to complete when they enroll at DES. They answer questions about themselves. On the announcements each day these children are spotlighted. They have their picture taken where they are displayed on the “Eagle of the Day” bulletin board for all to see. |

Sunshine Club Children are selected from each class to attend a 10 week motivational program to encourage friendship and positive behaviors. | ||
Soaring Citizen Facilitators 4th and 5th grade children are trained to help set up for the Soaring Citizen Celebration and to help facilitate making crafts with the younger students. These children are a very important part of making the celebration a success! | ||
Soaring Citizens Students are chosen by their classmates and/or teachers to represent their homeroom for displaying positive characteristics of the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. These students are invited to attend a Jungle themed award party at the end of each six weeks. They participate in making a craft, and they get to have their pictures taken so everyone can see their super star behavior in the main hall on a “Soaring Citizen” bulletin board. | New Leadership Opportunities for 2010-2011 "Peer Mediataors." Mrs. Keller and Mrs. Sanchez are training several 4th and 5th grade students to be Peer Mediators. The students are being trained to provide a safe, scripted, confidential, structured process to assist other students in conflict to end disputes peacefully by reaching mutually acceptable agreements. "Peers Making Peace" is a research based, educator created program that we are implementing through the after school ASPIRE program at DES.
