Shannon Learning Center

Welcome, !

According to staff input on the Gallup Q12, one of the areas we need to focus on and try to improve relates to staff satisfaction.  Here is the specific area from the Q12 we are monitoring:

"In the last seven days, I have received recognition or praise for doing good work."

To be honest, this can be hard with a staff of 70 employees.  Basically, the survey is holding up a week as a benchmark in which every employee should somehow be recognized or praised.  Hard? yes...Doable? We're sure going to try!

We formed a Staff Spirit and Recognition Committee to come up with ideas and implement them this year on our campus.  I think we came up with some excellent ideas! I'll share those ideas as they develop over time.

For now, I want to share what we did today...

This afternoon, during 4th Period, we implemented an idea that Assistant Lori Dazey suggested.  We visited each classroom and gave each teacher a quick "Appreciation Break".  It was a surprise visit.  We entered their rooms and - in front of the students - thanked them for their hard work and told them how much we appreciated them.  We then had the teacher step into the hall where we treated them to their choice of soft drinks and a snack.  We were able to get to every class and even a couple of administrative offices (Student Services and the PLC) within 45 minutes.

From the reaction of both the students and staff, I think it was a success!  Here are some pictures we took of the event.

[Thank you Ms Dazey for a great First Idea for Recognizing and Praising Staff!]
