iDevices for Teaching & Learning 1. What's the Tool? The iPod Touch / iPad / iPhone devices deliver educational content to learners at all levels to support individualized, engaging instruction utilizing 21st century teaching and learning strategies. Teacher-created, customizable content delivered via the learning device provides the opportunity for anytime/anywhere learning. Additionally, downloadable content such as podcasts delivered through iTunes University, media content from United Streaming, and learning applications developed specifically for the device support engaged learning. BISD Planning and Purchasing Guidelines: iPads, iPod Touches, and Apps Best Practices Teach and review expectations for use in the classroom. When appropriate partner students for learning experiences. Student should use the same iDevice each time. iDevices should be stored in a secure, locked location when not in use. Purchases, including Apps, should never be made on the iDevice. Email accounts should never be setup or accessed on the iDevice. Teachers should never access personal email or Facebook from the iDevice. After each activity/lesson, complete the survey. iDevices should never be sent home for student or staff use. 3. What is the best way to access teacher/student created video from an iPod Touch or iPad? -The video creator should upload the video to You Tube and then a link to the video placed on the teacher's website. What is the best way to get images (or other files) onto a device? -Contact Cheryl McKnight about creating a Dropbox account for the BISD iDevice account and then install the App. Files can be managed via the web. What is the best way to manage music files? -Create playlist in iTunes for the different user groups. How can I access content from United Streaming on an iDevice? - Log into account
- Search for Editable videos (due to copyright, only videos marked as editable my be loaded onto the device)
- Choose to download video segment as a Quicktime file
- Open iTunes and choose to add the file to your library
- Right click on the video file within the iTunes library
- Choose "Create iPod or iPhone version"
- Sync file to your device(s)
