North Ridge Homework Policy
In order to best serve the families of North Ridge Elementary, we have developed a homework policy that will give you basics as to what to expect of your child's homework. Please remember that these are meant as a guide, and there are always exceptions based on the individual needs of your child. If you have any questions over your child's homework, please feel free to contact the teacher through email or phone.
Expect your child to have 15 - 20 minutes of English Language Arts 3 -4 days a week. There will occasionally be home activities required in Math and Science.
Expect your child to have 20-30 minutes of homework 3-4 days a week in the core subjects of English Language Arts, Math, Science, or Social Studies. Occasional projects are given over time.
Your child is expected to read a minimum of 20 minutes 4 nights a week. In addition to this, you will have 10 minutes per night of Math practice. Studying for spelling tests may be necessary depending on the needs of your child, and various projects are given over time.
Expect your child to have about 45 minutes of homework 3-4 days a week. This will include studying for English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies in addition to Geography. Various projects are given over lengths of time.
Homework is given on Friday and due the following Friday. Each child will choose 3 assignments to do each week which take around 30 – 40 minutes. Various projects may also be given over time.
Expect your child's homework to take around 50 minutes. Typically homework consists of what is not completed in class. Several at home projects are given throughout the year over time. In addition to this, homework may include studying for tests and an occasional extra assignment.
