Volunteer Opportunities
Teacher Workroom
Where: PTA Workroom (portable in front of school)
What: Assist teachers with cutting, laminating, stapling, pasting, etc.
When: Every Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 9:30 am. Drop in and stay as little or as long as you like, we appreciate any help you can offer! Pre-school age children are welcome to join us.

Reading with Students
Where: Smithfield Elementary
What: Assist struggling readers with word lists or stories during a regularly scheduled time each week.
When: If volunteering for a specific teacher/day/time slot, volunteer should be able to commit to reading each week.
Accelerated Reader Store
Where: Smithfield Elementary
What: Students read AR books to earn points which they can spend every six weeks in the AR Store. Volunteers helps set-up, clean-up, monitor shopping and help younger students with their selections.
When: Every Six Weeks
Computer Lab Helpers
Where: Smithfield Elementary Computer Lab
What: Volunteers are needed to oversee students working the lab while teachers are working with small groups in classrooms.
When: During prep for STAAR testing (February/March).
Hospitality
Where: Smithfield Elementary
What: Volunteers are needed throughout the year to donate baked goods, snacks, drinks, cart service, breakfasts, luncheons and teacher appreaciation (set-up, clean-up & decorating).
When: Various times throughout the year.
Book Fairs
Where: Smithfield Elementary Library
What: Set-up/tear-down displays, assist Kinder/1st grade with "wish lists", sell books to parents and children during hours of operation.
When: (Dates posted various times throughout the year) Before and after school as well as Tuesday & Thursday evenings
